Let’s EncryptでSSL証明書を使っている方は既にご存知の通り。
有効期限が残っている場合に、SSL 証明書の更新コマンド certbot renew を実行すると、「未だ期間があるから大丈夫。スキップしました。」という内容です。

サーバのログ(/var/log/letsencrypt/letsencrypt.log)には以下が出ていると思います。

cronで定期実行を仕込んでいると、すっかり忘れた頃にメールが来てどきっとしますね。
定期実行を仕組んでいない場合や、自動更新が何らかの理由で失敗している場合は、期限切れになる前に、以下のようなメールが来て教えてくれるので、certbot renewを手動で実行してください。
Hello, Your certificate (or certificates) for the names listed below will expire in 20 days (on dd mm yy hh:ss +0000). Please make sure to renew your certificate before then, or visitors to your website will encounter errors.
